Making a play doh pizza that has pretend “a” like apple things on top of it ( like a small alligator, ants, etc.) is a great way to play and be practicing language. Plus, it keeps that small voice inside happy by knowing that if I make the effort, I am helping my little one learn to read. Did you know that learning how to put a sound with a certain symbol is the precursor to being successful later on in life to understanding language in general? So go ahead and play, but just be intentional. Phonemic awareness is a play doh pizza away.
