The average time for first teeth to erupt is around six months of age. From the beginning, your baby’s teeth need care and protection so that they may pave the way the permanent teeth that will come later to be strong and healthy. Here are steps to take to assure that, indeed, the teeth will be healthy.

  • Never put your baby to bed with a bottle. Sugar deposited on the teeth leads to major damage.
  • See that regular applications of fluoride varnish are given to your child beginning with the first teeth and until about age five.
  • Cleanse the teeth daily with a small amount of toothpaste using gauze or similar material for application until the age of three.
  • Use a pea sized amount of toothpaste for brushing for children three to six.

Remember also that good nutrition is a key element for teeth to be healthy and healthy teeth are a must for growing a healthy child.
